Bird flu scare: seven hospitalised in Indore
Indore, Apr 12 (UNI) Seven people have been admitted as suspected cases of bird flu at the TB hospital here and are under observation in an isolation ward.
The patients hailed from Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district adjoining Maharashtra.
Chief Medical Officer K K Vijayvargiya said the patients were under hospital superintendent Atul Kharate's observation.
The blood samples of all these people were sent to the National Institute of Communicable Disease in New Delhi for testing as a precautionary measure.
Dr Kharate expressed confidence that the patients were not affected by bird flu. However, the exact situation would be known after the report.
Dr Kharate said the patients, who were referred by Omkareshwar Community Healthcare centre, had consumed cooked chicken about a fortnight back. Hence, there was little probability of bird flu.
Besides, avian flu had not been detected in chickens in Khandwa.
However, precaution was being taken as the patients had been referred as suspected cases.
