Authorities seal Victoria park in view of probe

Meerut, Apr 12 (UNI) The district authorities today sealed Victoria Park, the scene of a devastating blaze on Monday, following Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's announcement of a judicial probe into the incident.

''The site has been sealed in view of the probe to be undertaken to ascertain the cause of the tragedy and adequate police personnel deployed there,'' District Magistrate Ram Krishan said, adding that it was not possible to seal the park immediately in view of the visit of Mr Yadav and other political leaders.

The probe into the incident was ordered following allegations that shortly after the fire, bulldozers and other machines had been used to level the ground.
