Bhubaneswar, Apr 11 (UNI) Sand sculptor Sudarshan Patnaik will create 100 sand Taj Mahals across the world.

Famous for his black Taj replica with dark coloured sand of river Yumuna at Agra on the concluding ceremony of the 350th year celebration of Taj Mahal last year, the Puri based artist would now create sand miniatures of the 'marble wonder' Taj Mahal.

''I want to build 100 replicas of Taj Mahal with multiple coloured sand. Apart from boosting our country's tourism, this form of art would make people across the world aware of India's 'marble marvel', Patnaik told UNI.

'' I would create a golden Taj at Puri's golden beach,'' he said.

Students of the Golden Sand Art Institute, run by Patnaik at Puri, would assist him in his creative foray.

''I have plans to make Taj miniatures in coutries like America, Canada, Australia, England, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Japan,'' he added.

Sand Taj Mahals would be created in big Indian metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore,''the artist said.

''Sand structures are temporary and have limited life span.

Moreover, these are non-polluting,'' he added.

Patnaik had already participated in more than 27 international sand sculpture championships around the world and bagged several awards.

He is the first Indian to win the 1st prize at the International Sand Sculpture Championship in Berlin last year.
