Rajnath urges state government to enact anti-conversion act
Ranchi, Apr 11: BJP president Rajnath Singh has urged the Jharkhand government to enact the anti-conversion act and warned missionaries to desist from forcible conversion of tribals.
Mr Singh has held successive Congress governments responsible for increased terrorism and naxalism across the country and unabated infiltration from Bangladesh.
Addressing a dozen public meetings during his Bharat Suraksha Yatra on way to Ranchi from Gumla yesterday he criticised the UPA government at the Centre for its move to repeal POTA in 2004.
Terrorists had celebrated the repeal of POTA at the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders, he said adding that the Centre should formulate an integrated action plan on naxalism in consultation with the affected state governments.
He also expressed concern over the central government's reservation policies and described it as minority appeasement.
The BJP president ended the first leg of his yatra here today and left for Meerut to take stock of the situation there following yesterday's devastating fire which claimed 60 lives.
