Man suspected of bird flu infection admitted to Gujarat hospital
Ahmedabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Gujarat Health Minister Ashok Bhatt today said his department is closely monitoring the condition of a poultry farmer who has been admitted to the Civil Hospital here for suspected bird flu infection.
Mr Bhatt told UNI that the blood samples of the patient, Qadar Marghiwala, a 32-year-old resident of the walled city area, has been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), New Delhi and National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune for tests. The lab results are being awaited, he said.
Marghiwala had been suffering from fever for the past few days and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. He is now being kept in the isolation ward, he said.
