Mahavir Jayanthi, Milad-un-Nabi celebrated amid communal harmony

Surat, Apr 11 (UNI) Mahavir Jayanthi and Milad-un-Nabi were celebrated with religious fervour and amid communal harmony here today.

Processions were taken out on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanthi while special ''poojas'' and functions were held since morning to mark the occasion.

Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, was also observed with traditional fervour and gaiety. The annual procession, ''Julus'', was taken out which, after wending its way through the city, will conclude at the Khwaja Dana Dargha, the oldest dargha in the city. Special ''namaz'' were offered at the various mosques in the city.
