KLO to start new camps in Nepal
Siliguri, Apr 11 (UNI) Kamtapur Liberation Organisation's (KLO) chief Jiban Singh is planning to set up new camps in Nepal.
BSF officials said Mr Singh reportedly met Maoists in Nepal to discuss the issue.
BSF Officials informed the KLO chief was looking for shelter following mounting pressure from the Bangladesh government.
''After a stern stance taken by the Indian government during the recent visit of the Bangladesh Prime Minister, that government was taking action to flush out militants from their country,'' the BSF officials added.
They also said Mr Singh recently met Maoists in Nepal at least thrice in the recent past.
The KLO chief was spotted at Rangpur, Chittagong and Dhaka in Bangladesh, which further strengthened BSF's assumption.
BSF Deputy Inspector General (North Bengal) Sukharinder Singh Sandhu told UNI they have concrete information that the Maoists, the ULFA and the KLO have contact among themselves.
''The ULFA is conducting the relationship with Maoist and Jiban Singh. All the border outposts have been alerted,'' Mr Sandhu said.
He said North Bengal shares 1,070 km border with Bangladesh.
Patrolling was increased in the border areas, the DIG said adding Nepal is not surrounded by a fence and it was easy to conduct militant activities from Nepal.
He said a report was sent to the Centre on this matter.
