BJP for smaller states: Prasad
Vijayawada, Apr 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it favoured the creation of smaller states for their development.
Talking to newsmen here, BJP City President I R K Prasad said since 1952 (it was called as the Jan Sangh), the party had favoured smaller states.
In this context, he quoted Party National President Rajnath Singh who said the BJP would support a separate Telangana.
The BJP had lost people's mandate in the last Assembly elections for not showing interest in the party's Kakinada Resolution (one vote, two states) made in 1997 and due to alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP), he pointed out.
The party would discuss the issue at the national executive to be held next month at New Delhi.
A round-table meeting on small states and Andhra region development will be held in the city tomorrow, he added.
