Amendment for K'taka Endowment Act on the cards
Kollur, Karnataka, Apr 11 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has proposed to bring in suitable amendments to the Karnataka Endowment Act to bring several Christian and Muslim institutions under the purview of the legislation, Religious Endowment Minister B Nagaraj Shetty said today.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Rs three crore student's hostel built by the famous Sri Mookambika temple here, he said the Ministry would soon convene a meeting of various religious leaders and temple authorities, before bringing in the amendments.
Later talking to newspersons here, the Minister said that with the setting up of the Special Economic Zone in Mangalore, the undivided Dakshina Kannada district was expected to attract investments to the tune of Rs one lakh crore within five years. The completion of pipeline between Mangalore and Bangalore would reduce tanker traffic on roads by 50 per cent.
Medical Education Minister Dr V S Acharya, who was also present, said the district administration was preparing a master plan for Rs 15 crore for providing facilities like better roads, drinking water and drainage system at the temple, with Rs three crore contribution from the temple administration. After the Ministry's approval, the temple would be developed on the lines of Tirupati and Mantralaya.
