2605th birthday of Lord Mahavir celebrated

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Traditional fervour marked the celebration of Mahavir Jayanti, the birthday of Lord Mahavira, in the capital today.

A huge procession to commemorate the 2605th birthday of Lord Mahavira was carried out from the Digambar Jain mandir near Filmistan to the Parade Ground near Subhash Maidan.

The procession, which began at 0900 hrs, passed through Bara Hindurao, Baratooti, Sadar Bazaar, Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk, Dariba Kalan and Hathikhana.

Traffic diversions were carried out and special security arrangements were made on the route of the procession.
