Water supply for pilgrims to be improved
Hoshiarpur, Apr 10 (UNI) The Punjab government has decided to upgrade drinking water facilities for pilgrims enroute to the shrines of Chintpurni, Jwalamukhi, Kangra and Chamunda Devi in adjoining Himachal Pradesh, Announcing this here today Punjab Food and Supplies minister Avtar Henry said that the water supply facilities on these routes would be improved for the pilgrim. Focus will be on the route from Chohal to Manguwal in Hoshiarpur district, he added.
He said that 20 water posts, each comprising 10 taps, would be installed on the route for which Rs 3.50 crore would be spent.
He said that there were about 1100 water scarce villages and around 2300 partially water scarce in state which would be covered in the World Bank Project to be started from June one.
Potable water supply would be made available under this project to all the villages within next three years, he added.
