Varsity teachers to be appointed on contract basis

Lucknow, Apr 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced that university teachers would be appointed on contract basis whenever required to meet shortage of teaching staff in institutions of higher learning in the state.

''The government is also considering to increase honorarium of teachers appointed on contract basis,'' Mr Yadav said addressing the vice chancellors' conference here.

He informed that Rs 70 crore had been provided to various universities in the 2005-05 fiscal, which was Rs 21 crore more than last year.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the students coming from rural background be given equal opportunities in higher education.

He also asserted that reservation policies would be implemented at every cost in the state.
