TN polls as per schedule: CEO

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 10 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naresh Gupta today said elections for the Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held as per schedule.

Speaking to newspersons here after chairing a training programme for Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers of six districts, Mr Gupta asserted the Election Commission (EC) will stick to the schedule.

Mr Gupta refused to comment on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's apprehension on the Opposition unleashing large-scale violence to postpone the elections, saying these were ''political matters.'' On deployment of paramilitary forces during the polls, the CEO said the numbers will be decided by the EC.
