New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) A thundery squall in the capital today brought some relief to the people of Delhi from the scorching heat of the past more than a week.

Together with a cloud cover enveloping the Delhi skyline, the squall, which began flowing in the capital last evening, brought the mercury plummetting down to 36 Degrees C today, from a high of more than 40 Degrees C yesterday.

The clouds, however, led to a rise in minimum temperature today to 23 Degrees C, four Degrees above normal.

The squall, and the consequent sharp drop in mercury, came as a welcome relief for the people of Delhi, who have, for the past more than a week, experiencing sultry weather conditions, with the mercury recording upwards of 38 Degree C.

Infact, the capital yesterday recorded temperature of 40.4 Degrees C, the highest in this season.

The relief in the weather could continue in the coming days too with the meteorological department forecasting a partly cloudy sky and more thundersqualls. The weathermen have predicted a maximum temperature of 37 Degrees C tomorrow.

The BBC too has forecast light showers for tomorrow and on Wednesday and predicted that the minimum temperature would drop to 18 Degrees C and the maximum would be 37 Degrees C on Wednesday.
