Sonia resigns from social, cultural bodies
New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi has resigned from all the posts she was holding in various social and cultural organisations.
The move was aimed at avoiding any controversy that may arise in the resumed Budget Session of Parliament, which was earlier stalled in the first phase of the Budget Session over the ''office of profit'' issue, party sources said.
It was also intended to steer clear of any attack by the Opposition which targeted her over the issue, they added.
Mrs Gandhi had earlier resigned from the National Advisory Council, quit her Lok Sabha membership, and had also subsequently, resigned from the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, besides other organisations.
