Score of human skulls and bones recovered from a tank in Bengal
Barasat, Apr 10 (UNI) Scores of human skulls and skeletons were unearthed from a tank at Amdanga village in West Bengal's North 24 parganas, police said today.
Workers while renovating a century old tank unearthed at least twenty human skulls and large number of skeletons.
Incidentally, local police when informed about the recovery of skulls hardly took any interest.
A senior police officer in the headquarters though confirmed such report said the tank existed for more than two centuries and the area was known as a cremation ground.
But the discovery of skulls and bones caused much curiosity and panick among the local people. Even some people including some ojhas were seen carrying skulls and bones home.
UNI XC PC Meanwhile, a few people took away most of the parts of the skeletons and the skulls, even some ojhas too took the chances, locals alongwith the workers said. Local people were astonished to see that police hardly took its recourse in this case.
