Sabarmati Express carnage accused arrested in Godhra
Godhra, Apr 10: Police today arrested an accused in the Sabarmati Express train carnage case, from Mohammadi mohalla area of the town.
The accused, Shaukat Yousuf alias Bibino, is among the more than 120 people who had been arrested for alleged involvement in the train carnage case of February 27, 2002, police said.
At least 13 more accused in the case are still absconding.
Shaukat was nabbed from his mother-in-law's house in an early-morning swoop by a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Asari. Shaukat had been living in the locality for the past three years, but nobody knew that he was among the accused of the train carnage case. He was identified and handed over to the Railway police.
His brother Ramzan, a known history-sheeter, had been arrested a few days back on charges of robbery, police added.
