Rupee opens stronger at 44.72/73/USD
Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) The rupee today opened firm at 44.72/73 per US dollar as compared to the last close of 44.6850/6950, said a foreign exchange (forex) dealer here.
Later in the mid-morning session rupee traded at 44.71/72 per dollar and weakened up to 44.68/69, the dealer added.
With the domestic equity market showing signs of volatility the rupee is expected to track the market proceedings later during the day, the 30 shares sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange was trading flat with a gain of 18 points at 11,607 at 1100 hrs this morning.
However, the USD 2.9 billion addition in the foreign exchange reserves last week, allowing total forex reserves to go beyond USD 150 billion will support rupee.
