Pondy Labour Commissioner appointed Returning Officer

Pondicherry, Apr 10 (UNI) The Election Commission today appointed Pondicherry Labour Commissioner S Sunderavadivelu as the Returning Officer for Bussy, Ozhukarai and Thattanchavady constiteuncies in place of D Venkanna.

Mr Venkanna died in a road accident here yesterday.

The commission also removed B Veeraraghavan, who was appointed as the Assistant Returning Officer for Muthialpet, Rajbhavan Lawspet constituencies and appointed V Nagarajan, Deputy Director, (LAD public works) in his place.

Though no reason was given by the Pondicherry election department for the removal of Mr Veeraraghavan, it is presumed that he had applied for a seat from a political party and was removed because of this.

The commission also appointed Mr Lakshmana Achariyalu of Yanam agriculture department as the Assistant Returning Officer for Yanam constituency replacing Yanam Municipal Commissioner M B Subramaniyam, District Election Officer and District Collector Theva Neethi Das said in a statement here tonight.
