Package to focus on farm credit: Pawar

Hyderabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Union Agriculture and Consumers Affairs Minister Sharad Pawar today said the proposed farmers' rehabilitation package will lay emphasis on providing credit to farmers.

Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Pawar said the package will stress on watershed development, micro and surface irrigation, easy access to affordable credit and rescheduling of loans in distressed areas among others.

The government will appoint special officers to supervise the implementation of the package in various states.

State Agriculture Ministers and officials will meet periodically to review the progress of implementation of the package, he added.
