Mann opposes Gill's appointment as Chhattisgarh advisor

Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Maan today described the appointment of former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) K P S Gill as security advisor inthe Naxalite prone Chhattisgarh state as ''uncontitutional and illegal''.

The appointment of Mr Gill is both unconstitutional and against All India Service Rules which clearly specify that a person convicted by the Supreme Court cannot be re-employed or reinstated in service, Mr Mann said while talking to UNI here.

Moreover Mr Gill has over-stepped all rules of law and the constitutional principles in committing extra-judicial murders in Punjab, he claimed.

He called upon the Union Government to intervene and cancel Mr Gill's appointment as security advisor to the Chhattisgarh government for tackling the Naxalite problem.
