Law and order situation in states to be reviewed on April 12
New Delhi, Apr 10: The centre will review the issues relating to internal security and law and order with top officials of states and union territories on April 12.
The day-long meeting of Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police will be inaugurated by Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
Strengthening of intelligence set up, counter-terrorism strategy, insurgency in the North East, managing law and order in the country, combating human trafficking will figure in the discussion, convened by the Home Ministry.
The meeting would also discuss such issues as managing international borders, disaster management, utilisation of funds by state governments under various schemes and issues relating to drugs and psychotropic substances.
Home Secretary V K Duggal would chair the meeting after the inauguration at which Ministers of state for home Manikrao H Gavit and S Reghupathy.
Senior officers of the centre, including the Home Ministry, and all the Chiefs of central police organisations will also attend the meeting.
