K'taka Governor, CM extend Id, Mahavir Jayanthi greetings
Bangalore, Apr 10 (UNI) Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today greeted the people of the State on the eve of Meelad-un-Nabi and Mahavir Jayanthi.
In his message here, the Governor said ''Let us strive sincerely to follow and adapt the teachings of Lord Mahavir who is the master of infinite compassion, promoter of universal peace, personification of supreme wisdom, equanimity and human solidarity.'' His message to the Muslim brethren was to rededicate oneself to the goals of religious amity, brotherhood and compassion that Prophet Mohammad set and imbibe the true essence of his teachings for the lasting welfare of mankind.
In his Meelad-un-Nabi message, Mr Kumaraswamy said the tenets of compassion and peace preached by Prophet Mohammad were the guiding lights of humanity.
The principles of non-violence, renunciation and friendship preached by Jain Thirthankar Mahavir were the quintessential tenets for a happy and peaceful life, the Chief Minister said, greeting the Jains.
