Jamshedpur, Apr 10 (UNI) Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) felicitated sensational wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni this evening for being the first test cricketer from the state and his stupendous track record in international cricket within a brief span of time.

Director, Tata Sons and former vice president of BCCI Jamshed J Irani presented a silver bat to Dhoni on behalf of JSCA. The bat is inscribed with famous quote of Roman Emperor Julius Ceasar--- ''Vini, Vidi, Vici'' (I came, I saw, I conquered).

The JSCA also conferred honorary life time memership and a citation to the dashing cricketer.

Accepting the honour, Dhoni thanked the JSCA and said, ''Hopefully I will continue to give cent per cent for Indian cricket and the country. It's hard to say anything about future but I will give my best.'' All the members of Team India, including stand-in-captain Virendra Sehwag and coach Greg Chappell were present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Chappell praised Dhoni for his positive attitude on and off the field. He said Dhoni had the potential to adapt according to demand of the situation and he plays the role we (the team management) expect from him.

Chappell, who is instrumental for the success of Dhoni, said, ''The star batsman from Jharkhand is a good hitter of the ball and has the potential to become a great leader.''

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Irani cautioned Dhoni to keep his cool and not let the sudden success get to his head. He said hopefully the young cricketer from Jharkhand would not be in the same category and would bring more laurels for India and the state. Jharkhand Director General of Police V D Ram, who was the chief guest said the name Dhoni had become synonymous with Jharkhand and everyone in the state was proud of his feat.

JSCA president Amitabh Chowdhary also gave a brief history about the creation of JSCA from the then Bihar Cricket Association (BCA).

He said it was a great privilege for the JSCA to honour Dhoni as the first test cricketer from the state.

Dhoni also released a special cover on Keenan stadium jointly issued by the postal department here and the Jamshedpur Philatelic Society.
