IIMs to reply in 48 hrs of receiving circular on quota

Ahmedabad, Apr 10: The directors of six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) here today decided to reply to the circular on the proposed 27 per cent reservation for other backward classes (OBC) within 48 hours of receiving it.

Since they have not yet received the circular, the directors refused to elaborate on what was discussed at the meeting today.

Meanwhile, the circular regarding reservation is unlikely to be issued before May 9 because of an embargo due to the onging Assembly elections in five States.

Although the directors were closeted for more than six hours, discussing the issue, their stoic silence was eloquent.

Replying to a volley of questions to the reporters waiting outside the venue of the meeting on the campus, IIM-A Director Bakul Dholakia said, ''We can reply only after seeing what exactly are the contents.''

When asked how much time will it take to reply, he said it would be ''within 48 hours of receiving the circular.'' ''And for that, we need not meet personally. We can talk on phone,'' he said.
