Hakeem reviews stock and supply position of essentials

Jammu, Apr 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen reviewed the stock and supply position of the essential commodities in the state especially in remote areas in a meeting of officers of CAPD and FCI, here today.

The meeting was informed that at present 25,000 tonnes of rice and 100 tonnes of sugar are available in FCI and CAPD godowns in Jammu province while as 10000 tonnes of rice and 90 tonnes of sugar are available in the valley.

It was also said in the meeting that during the last week of March 30,000 quintals of wheat were issued to the millers by the CAPD department in the valley for grinding and the mailers were asked to maintain the quality control of the floor during the grinding.

It was revealed in the meeting SRTC is providing a fleet of 40 to 50 trucks daily for lifting the food grains from the FCI godowns at Jammu for the valley. The meeting was told that SRTC has been asked to increase the number of trucks on daily basis for lifting of the foodgrains as the present fleet is not sufficient resulting in accumulation of the foodgrains in the said godowns thereby causing shortage of the esentials in the valley and other remote areas of the state.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, CAPD, Mr Khursheed Ahmed Malik, Director CAPD Jammu, Mr Ajaz Iqbal, Regional Manager Food Corporation of India, Mr Farooq Ahmed Khan and others.
