Daily wagers not entitled to be regularised: SC

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) The Supreme Court today said the daily wagers in government jobs were not entitled to be regularised irrespective of years of service put in by them.

A five Judge Constitution Bench ruling delivered by Mr Justice P K Balasubramanyan, which will have repercussions on lakhs of daily wagers employed by the government, was handed down while allowing appeals by Karnataka state government and others.

The judgement has sealed the fate of over 20,000 daily wagers in Karnataka alone, including those who have put in as many as twenty years of service.

Other Judges on the bench were Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal, Mr Justice Arun Kumar, Mr Justice G P Mathur and Mr Justice C K Thakker.
