Circuit bench venue issue: Hubli Bar withdraws agitation
Hubli, Apr 10 (UNI) Members of the Hubli Bar Association, boycotting court proceedings for the last seven days, today withdrew their agitation, and senior advocate Iliger ended his fast-unto-death following an assurance by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy that the Government would get them an audience with the Karnataka High Court Chief Justice.
They were demanding that the circuit bench of the High Court be set up anywhere between Hubli and Dharwad and opposing the venue selected by the Government -- Water and Land Management Institute near Dharwad.
Association sources told UNI that the Bar's general body would meet in a couple of days and discuss the Chief Minister's assurance, conveyed by Law Minister Basavraj Horatti.
The Chief Minister said the ball was in the Chief Justice's court and if he wanted a change of location, the Government was ready.
