Chhattisgarh mulls anti-conversion law

Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 10 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh government is considering to bring in a legislation on the Rajasthan pattern to check forcible conversion as the existing law is not effective, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said today.

''Either an ordinance would be issued or a bill introduced in next session of the Assembly after studying the Rajasthan bill.

However, no final decision in this regard was taken so far'', Dr Singh told UNI.

He said an effective legislation was needed to check conversion as the existing law was not so effective. The officers were told to study the Rajasthan law and draft the bill accordingly, he added.

BJP President Rajnath Singh, who arrived here last night on the 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra' has directed the Chief Minister at a public meeting to enact a suitable law to stop conversion.
