28 arrested for copying in Haryana

Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) As many as 26 students were arrested along with a school headmaster and a physical training instructor in Narnaul town of Mahendragarh district for using unfair means or helping others in copying during the 10+2 examinations being conducted by National Open School.

All the accused, who were arrested from two examination centres in Narnaul on Saturday, were later remanded in Judicial custody for 14 days by a local Court in Narnaul, an official spokesman said today.

Cases were registered against all of them under sections 419, 420, 468, 188 and 120-B.

He said a raid on another examination centre at MBM School in Karnal was conducted by City Magistrate Jagtar Singh following a complaint received by him that unfair means were being adopted at the centre.

Police recovered Rs 2000 from a person who had taken this bribe in lieu of helping in copying, the spokesman said.

Police had arrested five other people on similar charges from Yadav Public School in Karnal on Friday and a case was registered against them.
