Shinde inaugurates power station in Uttaranchal
Pithoragarh, Apr 9: Inaugurating the 280 Megawatt Dhauliganga Power Station in Dharchula, Union power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde asserted that the district would be developed into the ''power district'' of Uttaranchal.
Chief Minister N D Tiwari was also present on the occassion.
''Despite adverse geographical conditions, Pithoragarh has a vast potential of power production, Mr Shinde said, adding the district will soon be developed into a power district of the state.''
Referring to the power generation in the country, He said the production has reached to 32000 Megawatt since Independence when it was only 508 Megawatt and added ''67000 Megawatt is still required in the country.'' Private investment would be encouraged in the power sector to enhance power production. he aadded.
