Nepal woman wounded in firing on protesters dies
KATHMANDU, Apr 9: A woman bystander who was wounded when Nepali troops fired on protesters demonstrating against King Gyanendra died today, a doctor said.
The shooting took place yesterday in Narayanghat town, about 150 km south of the capital Kathmandu, as troops tried to disperse pro-democracy activists demanding the king end his absolute rule.
''She died this morning,'' Bhojraj Adhikary, a doctor at a local hospital, told Reuters by phone. Another protester was shot dead by soldiers elsewhere in Nepal yesterday.
