Patna, Apr 9 (UNI) CPI (ML) today objected the NDA government's decision of winding up Amir Das Commission, constituted to probe the political patronage of Ranveer Sena, and described it as an attempt of Nitish Kumar government to shield the politicians.

CPI (ML) general secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya told a news conference that the Nitish Kumar government should extend the tenure of the Commission, which collected vital evidences about the politicians having links with the Ranveer Sena.

A large number of dalits were killed in Bathepur massacre engineered by the Ranveer Sena, he alleged.

'' Abrupt winding up of the Commission without allowing it to submit its report was an undemocratic act with vested interest,'' Mr Bhattachrya allleged.

He said there was no reason to wind up the Amir Das Commission, which was tracking the accused of Bahagalpur riot. The Commission had almost completed the inquiry.

The CPI (ML) leader said he would call on the Governor in this connection with a request to intervene into the matter.

Talking about the recent agitation in Nepal against the monarchy and restoration of democracy, he said the Union government should support the movement for restoration of democracy in the neighbouring country of Nepal. He said the 'Twin pillar policy' was adopted by the Centre to support the democratic system on one hand and maintain the stand for continuance of Monarchy in Nepal would not serve the purpose.

He urged the government to give up the twin pillar policy.

When asked about the initiative of the Centre to provide reservation in premier technical and management institutions of the country, he termed it as logical conclusion of the existing policy of reservation in the government services.

'' Without providing reservation in educational institutions, making provisions for reservations in government services is meaningless,'' he observed.

Mr Bhattacharya said rationalisation of fee structure of the premier technical and management institutes of the country was nercessary as large number of meritorious students from underprivileged section failed to take admission due to high fees.

He urged the Centre to take steps to end the ongoing strike of the State Bank of India employees adding continuance of the agitation would go against the economic interests of the country.

Expressing solidarity with noted activist of Narmada Bachao Andolan Medha Patekar, in her crusade to seek justice for the masses displaced during the construction of Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada valley, the CPI (ML) leader said the Centre should find out a solution to the suffering masses as the three member ministerial team sent to the site by the Prime Minister could not yield desirable results.
