Munjal, Kalyan and Ramoji Rao recieve FIE award
Ichalkaranji Apr 9 (UNI) Industrialists Brijmohan Lal Munjal (Delhi) and Baba Kalyani (Pune) and Ramoji Rao (Hyderbad) were honoured with this year's FIE foundation 'Rashtrabhushan' awards at a function held here today.
The awards carrying an amount of Rs five lakh each, were handed over to motor-bike major Hero Honda Motors' Chairman Munjal, Bharat Forge President Kalyani and to Ramoji Group Chairman Ramoji Rao by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
The function was presided by the State Cooperative Minister Patangrao Kadam.
The National level awards instituted by the Ichalkaranji based FIE (fuel instruments and engineers) foundation is given every year to honour personalities from different fields for their outstanding works.
The Chief Minister honoured some others with FIE foundation special awards consisting of Rs one lakh each includes noted actor Om Puri, litterateur Ratnakar Matkari, Secretary Oceanography Dr P S Goel, Entrepreneur Vithal Kamat, Bajaj Auto Limited General Manager (R&D) Abraham Joseph and others.
Actress Rani Mukherjee, noted script writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar were also selected for the special award but both of them were unable to attend it.
The FIE foundation selected 10 other persons and awarded Rs 50,000 as local awards to each.
