Alappuzha, Apr 9 (UNI) Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Veerappa Moily today called on Vellappally Natesan, General Secretary of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, representing the powerful Ezhava community, to seek support for the UDF candidates in the coming Assembly elections in Kerala.

Mr Moily called on Mr Natesan this afternoon at his residence at Kanichukulangra, about 15 km from here, in the wake of reports that the SNDP chief had issued a directive to the Yogam workers to ensure the defeat of certain UDF candidates.

While Mr Moily did not say anything about Mr Natesan's response after the nearly 45-minute meeting, it is reliably learnt that the SNDP chief ''rejected'' the UDF appeal and expressed dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates.

Mr Natesan reportedly told the CWC member that some of the UDF candidates were ''unacceptable''.

Later, addressing a press conference here, Mr Moily expressed confidence that the UDF would return to power as the people were satisfied with the performance of the government.
