Modi, Congress to participate in pro-Narmada dharna

Ahmedabad, Apr 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Congress unit president Bharatsinh Solanki are likely to join Narmada Abhiyan activists who will sit on a dharna at the Sabarmati Ashram tomorrow in support of the Narmada dam construction.

The dharna is mainly to counter the Narmada Bachao Andolan's agitation in Delhi against the dam.

Abhiyan sources said more than 1000 people from different walks of life would participate in the dharna.

The raising of the dam to 121.92 metres height has been okayed y the Supreme Court and those who are protesting against it are acting against the intersts of five crore Gujaratis, they said.
