Jordanian FM to visit Russia on W Asia situation
Moscow, Apr 9 (UNI) Jordanian Foreign Minister Abd-al-Ilah al-Khatib will arrive here tomorrow to discuss the current situation of W Asia with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kamynin told RIA Novosti news agency today that the Al-Khatib is coming to Russia for his two-day visit on the invitation of Lavrov and he would discuss the situation of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
''This visit will help develop a trust-based political dialogue between Russia and Jordan, and will have a close look on major international and regional problems,'' the spokesman said.
Stressing that Jordan was one of the key West Asia players conducting a well-balanced and realistic foreign policy, he said that "Coordination of our countries' political and diplomatic efforts on the most pressing regional problems is an important factor, which has positive influence on the development of the situation in the Middle east".
Mr Kamynin said two sides were expected to discuss the fight against international terrorism , religious extremism and will work to develop an inter-civilisation dialogue.
The two Foreign Ministers will also focus on measures to boost bilateral trade between Russia and Jordan, he added.
