Jaya's emotional meeting with Vaiko's family

Kalingapatti (Tamil Nadu), Apr 9 (UNI) Taking time off her hectic electioneering, AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa visited the residence of MDMK General Secretary Vaiko here today.

A smiling Ms Jayalalithaa spent about half-an-hour at Mr Vaiko's residence situated in the southern Tirunelveli district, where she was campaigning for the May eight Assembly polls.

Once an acerbic critic of Ms Jayalalithaa, especially after his 19 month-long detention under the now repealed POTA by her government, Mr Vaiko buried the hatchet and quit the DMK-led DPA to ally with the ruling AIADMK for the polls.

Mr Vaiko received the Chief Minister and introduced his mother, wife and other family members to her.

Ms Jayalalithaa also sought the blessings of Mr Vaiko's mother.

She felt as if she was speaking to her own (late) mother, Ms Jayalalithaa later told reporters about her interaction with Mr Vaiko's mother.
