India on way to becoming KPO hub: Kamal Nath

New Delhi, Apr 9: India is set to become the centre of Engineering Process Outsourcing, offering world class technology, research and development facilities.

''From a Business Process Outsourcing country, we would move to a Engineering Process Outsourcing and then to Knowledge Process Outsourcing hub, where technology, research and development will be at par with global standards,'' Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath said at the convocation function of the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

''We are at the most exciting stage now and India is one of the fastest growing countries, with our merchanised exports having touched 101 billion dollars and imports up by 32 per cent,'' he added.

Comparing India's workforce to that of China's, Mr Nath said, ''India's workforce would surpass China in the next ten years with it's current metamorphosis in the trade world.''
