Five killed, seven injured in two separate road accidents

Rajkot, Apr 9 (UNI) Five people were killed and seven others injured in two separate road accidents in the district.

In the first incident, three people were killed and another one was injured last night in a head-on collision between a car and a mini-bus near Kagdadi village on Rajkot-Morbi highway.

The deceased were travelling in the car, while the injured was in the mini-bus, police said. The occupants of the ill-fated car were on their way to Rajkot from Morbi when the mishap occurred.

Two of the three deceased have been identified as Ahamad Chandbhai Sipai (42), and Aziz Sayadali Malik (19). The one injured has been admitted to Rajkot Civil Hospital.

In another incident here yesterday, two pedestrians were killed and six others were injured when a truck-trailer ran over them near Maliya Miyana on Rajkot-Kutch highway. A group of 20 members were walking towards Ranpur from Gedi village in Kutch district to visit the Jivanbapu's Ashram for 'darshan' when the mishap occurred. The injured have been shifted to a private hospital here, police said.

The truck-trailer was proceding to Ahmedabad from Gandhidham when it ran over the pedestarians, the police added.

The deceased have been identified as Virabhai Chauhan (40) and Bhikhbhai Rajput (45). The truck driver fled from the scene of accident.
