Deshmukh welcomes Centre's approval of Mumbai Metro

Mumbai, Apr 9 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today welcomed the approval of the Mumbai-Metro project by the Centre.

Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minster Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Urban Minister Jaipal Reddy, Deshmukh said the foundation stone for the metro project would be laid soon and added that the Prime Minister would be requested to grace the occasion Adding further, Mr Deshmukh stated that the metro rail is an important project to transform Mumbai into a world class city, which would indeed ease the existing traffic congestion, an official release said here today.
