30 fish ponds to be set up in Baramulla this year
Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI) Under the Prime Minister's package, thirty carp fish ponds would be established in the second phase in north Kashmir's Baramulla district during the current financial year at a cost of Rs 36 lakh, an official spokesman said today.
He said 15 such ponds were set up during the last year.
The spokesman said a fish farmers Mela was also held at Trigam Fish Farm.
The aim of the mela was to educate farmers about the latest techniques on how to give a fillip to the fish production, he added.
The spokesman said ponds have already been stocked with three types of fish and 650 kg of fish were expected to be produced from each such pond which would provide an income of Rs 30,000 to every farmer.
