Topalov on top of the world; Anand No 2 in FIDE chaess rankings
New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand has moved up to second spot behind Bulgarian Veselin Topalov besides crossing 2800 ELO points in the latest FIDE rankings.
Anand's Elo rating has gone up to 2803 to Topalov's 2804, according to information received here today.
The difference of one point between Anand and Topalov is likely to fuel a tough contest between the two Super Grandmasters. Mtel Masters in which both Topalov and Anand are participating will be the first major tournament for such a fight.
Meanwhile, after reigning the ratings for two decades, Russian Grandmaster Gary Kasparov, who quit competitive chess last year, has vacated the top spot.
The third Spot has be taken by Levon Aronian (Elo 2756) of Armenia, 47 points behind Anand.
