SBI employees take out rally in Meghalaya capital
Shillong, Mar 8 (UNI) The employees of the State Bank of India (SBI) along with the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) today took out a rally here even as the indefinite strike by the agitating employees entered the sixth day.
The Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Union and Association also supported the stir.
The rally was organised to protest the non-fulfillment of the demands by the employees that include increasing the pension to 50 per cent of the salaries.
The leadership of the federations appealed to the general public, leaders of political parties, media, the central trade unions, state governments and the elected representatives of the people to persuade the Finance Ministry to initiate discussions or authorise the management of the Bank to do so with a proper brief so that early solution could be found to the current agitation, a press release issued here said.
Meanwhile, nearly four lakh customers of the SBI in Meghalaya continued to suffer due to the ongoing agitation by the bank employees.
