Marathi cinema comes of age
Mumbai, Apr 8 (UNI) The Marathi film industry seems to be literally going places with a number of films being shot overseas.
According to an industry expert, ''the trend of overseas shooting is picking up in a big way here.'' Producers who were considered to be poor cousins of their counterparts in the South, got a shot in the arm with 'Shwaas' winning a National award for the best film after 50 long years .
Souces observe that more and more Marathi films are being shot in the foreign locales. ''One such movie is 'Soon Hawai, Sasra Sawai' featuring veteran Marathi actors Kuldeep Pawar and Priya Berde. The movie directed by Vijay Bhanu and produced by Suresh Sharma slated to go on floors in London by May end.'' He added.
Another Marathi movie 'Joker' will be shot in London in June.
The movie stars noted actor Sachin and Atul Parchure with a host of child actors. The movie, based on a sensitive story focussing on the father-son relationship, is directed by Vikram Naresh Kumar.
In addition to this, four more Marathi films are in queue to be shot overseas, sources added.
Earlier, 'Pailteer' featuring Arun Nalawade and Rama Joshi was shot in Toronto.
