Government transactions handed over to Bank of Baroda in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Apr 7 (UNI) In wake of the indefinite strike by employees of State Bank of India (SBI), Gujarat Government has handed over certain transactions to Bank of Baroda (BoB) in the state.

The government has identified 19 branches of BoB in 18 districts to carry out the financial transactions, says an official press release here today.

The branches identified are: Gandhi Road and Usmanpura Branches at Ahmedabad, Vidhan Sabha Branch at Gandhinagar, besides Main Branches of BoB at Surat, Vadodara, Himatnagar, Palanpur, Mehsana, Nadiad, Anand, Godhra, Dahod, Bharuch, Rajpipla, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli and Bhuj.

As per the arrangement, the specimen signatures of the issuing authorites on the cheques drawn by the Treasury or Pay And Order (PAO) Office are being sent to these select branches of BoB. The instruments would bear rubber stamp marked BoB.

Arrangements have also been made to counter-check receipt-payment scrolls on a daily basis.

Similarly, arrangements have also been made for the traders to deposit sales tax at State Bank of Saurashtra, Dena Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Corporation Bank, UTI Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and IDBI Bank, the release said.
