Civic official caught accepting bribe in Surat

Surat, Apr 7 (UNI) A ward inspector attched to assessment recovery office under Limbayat zone of Surat Municipal Corporation was caught red-handed by the sleuths of Anti-corruption Wing accepting bribe here today.

ACB Asistant Director R C Rana said that the erring official, Bholabhai Ammadabhai Patel, and his agent Arun Jaswant Patel were arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 500 from the owner of a house for transfer procedure following the death of his elder brother.

However, a deal was struck at Rs 1,000 against the demand of Rs 1,800, of which the complainant had paid first instalment of Rs 500 earlier.
