Aligarh clashes were a result of appeasement policy: BJP

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today said yesterday's communal clashes in Aligarh was a result of the appeasement policy followed by the UPA at the Centre and the Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh towards minorities which was giving rise to intolerance towards other religions.

At least five people were killed and several others injured in the clashes.

Addressing newspersons here, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the appeasement policy of the government was promoting fundamentalism and intolerance towards one another.

He said the clashes proved that minorityism was a threat to the country's unity and integrity. It was a usual religious function of one community but the other community did not tolerate it leading to clashes, Mr Javadekar added.
