Gangtok, Apr 5 (UNI) Sikkim Police have arrested a youth of Rhenock in East Sikkim on the charges of duping a South Korean girl.

According to DIG Range A Sachdeva, Ms Ryu Jee Hee, who arrived Darjeeling in the last week of February, was staying as a paying guest in the house of one Mani Pradhan.

Somehow Ravi Sharma managed to win her confidence.

After a few days the girl fell ill and got admitted to a hospital in Darjeeling.

During this time the girl gave Sharma 29,000 U S Dollar to deposit in her account in UTI.

But Sharma got her signature in a blank withdrawal form and withdrew Rs 60,000 from her account. He also did not deposit the US dollar given by the girl to deposit in her account.

In the last week of March Sharma brought the girl to Gangtok and put her in a local hotel and fled after promising her to return soon.

But as he did not return and the girl failed to contact him over his mobile phone, she got suspicious and went to the Bank and checked her account.

She found to her surprise that the dollar she had given to him had not been deposited and Rs 60,000 was withdrawn from her account.

She filed an FIR with the Sadar Police Station. Acting on her allegation a police team raided the house of Sharma and arrested him two days back, Mr Sachdeva said today.

Further investigation was on.
