Sensex scales new high, up by 101 pts at 11,739 pts

Mumbai, Apr 5: The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today opened up by 33 points at 11,671 and later touched a new all-time high of 11,739 with a gain of 101 points around 1130 hrs.

Sensex had closed at 11,638 points yesterday.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index also crossed 3,500 mark this morning once again, after opening unchanged at 3,483.15 points, and traded at 3,506 points up by 23 points.

In sectoral indices, capital goods, consumer durables, health care and auto were up by more than one per cent.

The BSE Smallcap index was up by 1.44 per cent and BSE Midcap index was up by 1.58 per cent showing widespread gains.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Cipla, Ranbaxy, Reliance Energy, Larsen&Toubro, Hero Honda, Gujarat Ambuja Cements, Hindalco, HLL, ACC, and BHEL.

Among the losers were TCS, Satyam Computers, ONGC and Maruti.

TVS Motors was up by 12.91 per cent to Rs 177.60 this morning.

Adhunik Metaliks was listed on the stock markets today.

Adhunik Metaliks' Rs 10 share at an issue price of Rs 37 opened at Rs 45 and touched a high of Rs 49.40 and was trading at Rs 42.20 with a premium of 14 per cent at 1145 hrs.
